National Identities invites contributions to a special issue entitled “Navigating Emotional Politics: Religious Communities, Migration Experiences and the Boundaries of National Belonging”, edited by Dr Deniz Coşan Eke.
The issue explores how emotions shape religious communities’ experiences of migration and their negotiations of national belonging. It welcomes interdisciplinary research on emotional narratives and collective memory; gender and generational relations; media representations and public emotions; and transnational attachments and solidarities. Particular attention is given to how places, sacred spaces and mobility acquire emotional significance and shape inclusion and exclusion.
Proposals should include a title, a 250–300-word abstract and a biography of approximately 100 words, including an ORCID iD. Empirical proposals should indicate where, when and how the research was conducted. Selected authors will be invited to submit English-language manuscripts of approximately 9,000–10,000 words, including references, subject to double-blind peer review.
- Abstract deadline: 15 January 2027
- Manuscript deadline: 15 May 2027
