We are pleased to share the first Call for Papers for the Journal of Alevi Studies (JAS), a newly established peer-reviewed, multilingual, and interdisciplinary journal published by Hamburg University Press.
JAS aims to provide an international platform for scholarly research on Alevism and Alevi communities in their historical, religious, cultural, social, political, and diasporic dimensions.

The journal will follow a continuous publication model: accepted articles will be published online as soon as they are ready, rather than waiting for the completion of the full issue.
The journal invites original research articles from scholars working in the field of Alevi Studies and related areas. Contributions may be submitted in English, German, or Turkish.

JAS welcomes submissions on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
Alevi history, theology and religious traditions;
Ritual, belief, religious authority and everyday practice;
Sacred places, objects, manuscripts and material religion;
Migration, diaspora and transnational communities;
Music, literature, oral traditions and performance;
Identity, recognition, citizenship and political mobilisation;
Gender, generation, youth and family;
Memory, trauma, violence and commemoration;
Media, visual culture and digital knowledge production;
Heritage, archives, museums and cultural transmission;
Relations between Alevism and connected religious, cultural and historical traditions;
The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary work. Submissions on related communities and traditions are welcome where they fall within the broader scope of Alevi Studies.
